LaTeX installation

This page is from and the same with http://people.virginia.edu/~trb6e/tex/

Here are a few templates that might be handy for you.

If you have questions, my email at UVa is tbrick (at virginia, of course).

This page is meant to let you download all your installers quickly and easily. Use "Save Link As" or "Save Linked File" on each link to get the file, then run it from your desktop.

Please install

  • a LaTeX compiler MiKTeX (Remember to run the updater afterwards)
  • at least one TeX-enabled editor: LEd (free) or WinEdt (John specifically will cover WinEdt) (alternately, there's also E)
  • a reference manager: JabRef (for Johnny's Talk)
  • and image editing software: both PStoEdit and TpX (Both for Johnny's talk)

Mac Links

Please install

  • the MacTeX packages (Note: This package is REALLY, REALLY BIG.)
  • an extra editor, optionally TextMate
  • the Java version of the reference Manager JabRef (For Johnny's Talk)
  • and, if you feel like compiling, the source distribution of iPStoEdit(Also for Johnny's talk, but for experts only)
